blagaj tekke

Blagaj is a scenic village situated at the karstic spring of the Buna river and a historical tekke. It was built around 1520, with elements of Ottoman architecture and Mediterranean style, and is considered a national monument. Blagaj is famous for its 600 years old monastery that sits at the foot of a steep cliff wall.

Blagaj used to be an Illyrian and Roman settlement before the 15th century when Ottomans developed it into a historical treasure with several mosques, madrassas, mills, and stone bridges. It is a striking collection of historic architecture and natural features.
